Cancer Research UK Race for LifeClumber Park

We once more responded to a request to assist CRUK for their weekend of events with Pretty Muddy on Saturday 1st July, and with 3 events on the Sunday 2nd July, 5k, 10K and Half Marathon.

It was slightly different on this occasion in that we also worked with Notts 4x4 Response at the same event and used a 4x4UK radio channel to allow communication between us all.

Friday was a basic set up day with 1 responder from Lincs and 3 from Notts.  Saturday was an early start to finish and check the course before ferrying marshalls and taking up our own positions on the course. We had 5 members in 4 vehicles and Notts had 3 vehicles and 4 members.  After the event, it was de-rig and set up for the Sunday.  3 of our members stayed at a local camp site, once more promoting the social side of these events.

Sunday was another early start for course check and final set-up before once more taking out the marshalls and carrying out our own marshalling duties including managing the refreshment hubs.  Once more we had 5 members in 4 vehicles with Notts also 5 members in 4 vehicles.  Once complete it was de-rig and final course check.

Once again CRUK were full of praise for the work we did indicating how difficult it would be to carry out these events without 4x4 support.  Many thanks to Chris B, Darrell, Alison, Guy, John T and Art for their hard work in support of this worthy cause.

Another successful weekend and great to work with our colleagues from Notts.

Next to Rescue Day before on to Race for Life Lincoln.
